Melissa Cundari is passionate about bringing solutions to state-level food and nutrition programs, ensuring they thrive despite limited resources. With over 15 years of experience at the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), she has a deep understanding of the complexities involved in these programs. While at FNS, Melissa held roles in SNAP certification policy, quality control, EBT, integrity, and eventually holding the title of Midwest Regional Office SNAP Director. Melissa holds a master's degree in Human Services Administration, and her journey began in Illinois at the Department of Human Services, where she was struck by the intricate regulations governing food and nutrition services. She saw opportunities to simplify these regulations, making them clearer for both administrators and participants.
Melissa's passion for organization and clarity drives her work, aiming to make these programs more accessible and effective. At Westat, in her role as Principal Research Associate, she leverages her extensive experience to provide technical assistance and support to state programs. She focuses on interpreting complex regulations and sharing best practices across entities. Melissa's goal is to ensure that both the recipients and providers of these services benefit from streamlined, efficient processes.
