FRAC, District of Columbia
LaMonika Jones is the Director of State Initiatives at the Food Research and Action Center (FRAC), where she oversees D.C. Hunger Solutions, Maryland Hunger Solutions, and the New Jersey Food Security Initiative. In this role, she leads efforts to combat hunger and poverty across the District of Columbia, Maryland, and New Jersey, advocating for policies and programs that improve food access and economic stability in underserved communities.
LaMonika joined D.C. Hunger Solutions in September 2021 as an Anti-Hunger Program Analyst, focusing on expanding participation in child nutrition programs and enhancing the quality of benefits for vulnerable families.
Her leadership in child nutrition is informed by years of expertise, having previously served as the Procurement and Purchasing Compliance Officer at the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL), where she provided technical assistance and compliance oversight for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).
Additionally, she played a key role as a Steering Committee member of the Georgia Farm to Early Care and Education Coalition, where she advocated for the integration of local food systems into early childhood and K-12 education.
LaMonika holds a B.A. in Political Science and Communication from Oakland University and an M.Ed. in Urban Teacher Leadership from Georgia State University. She is a dedicated leader in the fight for food equity, currently serving as an Advisory Board Member for the National Farm to School Network and Co-Chair of FRAC’s Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee.
