Summer Grandy is a passionate advocate for equitable, resilient food systems with a deep-rooted connection to agriculture and food justice. Growing up on a small ranch in Idaho, Summer developed an early appreciation for sustainable food systems and justice. She went on to earn a degree in Environmental Science from the University of Portland, where she focused on sustainability and food justice.
Her diverse career has included roles on farms and ranches, at farmer’s markets, food cooperatives, and within the non-profit sector, all of which have strengthened her commitment to creating equitable and sustainable food systems. In her current role as the Flagstaff Family Food Center's Director of Community Impact, Summer works to identify the root causes of hunger across northern Arizona. She integrates trauma-informed, client-centric care into food bank programs and advocates for policies that address hunger and food insecurity.
In addition to her work at the food center, Summer is currently pursuing an M.S. in Sustainable Food Systems from Arizona State University’s Swette Center.
Summer is dedicated to combining her passions for sustainable agriculture, food justice, and policy to build a future where everyone has access to nutritious food.
