Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, District of Columbia
Session Summary: In this session, audience members will learn how the SNAP State Options Report, a publicly available resource, is a valuable tool understand SNAP and to collaborate with state administrators to support meaningful program improvements in their home states. The panelists — who bring decades of combined federal and state experience in SNAP — have worked to develop the most recent editions of the SNAP State Options Report.
Attendees will gain practical insights on how to effectively use the report, identify high-impact options for special populations, and discuss how these options can help their home state — many of which do not require legislative approval. The panel will also explore how strategic choices in state options can help applicants and participants, reduce administrative burden, and support program modernization, efficiency, and integrity.
This session is a must-attend for advocates seeking actionable strategies to influence SNAP policies and better serve their communities.
