Joe Cashman, MPH, is the Community Health Coordinator at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. Joe is a social justice advocate with a passion for community engagement and addressing the root causes of health disparities. With over 5 years of experience in food banking and community organizing, Joe started his food banking journey in Chicago, Illinois after earning his Master’s in Public Health with a concentration in Health Policy and Administration from the University of Illinois Chicago. Joe’s work includes creating and promoting equitable initiatives that address the diverse needs of our communities, developing and working with multiple programs that provide direct and indirect health and nutrition interventions to individuals and communities, and strengthening our neighbors’ wellbeing and self-empowerment. Prior to beginning his career in food banking, Joe spent 10 years as a Certified Personal Trainer helping multiple individuals meet their health and fitness goals, after receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of North Carolina Greensboro.
