Daisy Ellis, MPH, is the chronic disease policy specialist at the City of New Orleans Health Department. She received her BSPH and MPH in Health Policy from Tulane University. Prior to her current role, Daisy worked primarily in early childhood learning. She held positions at the Tulane University Learning and Brain Development Lab, the New Orleans Women and Children's Shelter, and local non-profit Early Learning Focus. Daisy joined the New Orleans Health Department in late 2023.
In her current role, Daisy works on local policy development and state-level advocacy to prevent and reduce chronic disease in New Orleans. Her experience in food policy includes advocacy for summer feeding, Summer EBT (SunBucks), and SNAP protections. Additionally, she has supported work on produce prescription programs, local food systems change, and increased access to farmers' markets and food banks. Daisy also provides technical assistance for and enforces New Orleans' Healthy Kids Beverage Ordinance. Her other areas of involvement include tobacco control and management of chronic disease during pregnancy.
Daisy is a graduate of the Loyola University Institute of Politics and a member of the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health.
